Shalam Brothers and Sisters, Many are fooled into thinking January 1st marks a new year. Don’t be deceived by the foolery and customs of this world. It is not a new year with it still being WINTER. The scriptures tell us clearly when God determines the New Year which is in the season called SPRING.
“Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.”
“This month (Abib) shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
Abib means “Green ear” for the sole reason that the “green” ears of corn begin to spring forth during this month which ALWAYS occurs in the spring at which time things are growing or becoming NEW again. This is the time when the Passover is kept.
Lets examine another date found in scriptures to further prove that the NEW YEAR will occur in Spring and not in the winter.
1 Maccabees 4:52
“Now on the five and twentieth day of the ninth month, which is called the month Casleu, in the hundred forty and eighth year, they rose up betimes in the morning,”
1 Maccabees 4:59
“Moreover Judas and his brethren with the whole congregation of Israel ordained, that the days of the dedication of the altar should be kept in their season from year to year by the space of eight days, from the five and twentieth day of the month Casleu, with mirth and gladness.”
We see that the Feast of Dedication occurs on the 25th day of the NINTH month which is called Casleu in its proper SEASON. What season would that be?
“And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.”
The Feast of Dedication takes place in the Winter on the 25th day of the 9th Month. The Winter Months in America are December, January and February which are technically the last few months of the year. If you examine the Greek and Latin names of the months you will see that November (Novi) means “nine”, December (deci) means “ten”. So if November is the NINTH month and it is the winter, December would be the 10th month, January would be the 11th month and February would be the 12th month and March/April (depending when the new moon of spring would fall) would begin the spring and Month ABIB which the Bible states is the TRUE New Year. Doesn’t it make more sense to know that a new year occurs when things of the earth are becoming new as opposed to a new year in the middle of the winter when things are dead and not growing?
Remember that the so Called New Year celebration is a follow up from the Pagan Christmas tradition called Saturnalia where the Romans worshipped the God Saturn which they believed would appear during the winter solstice which would occur between the 25th of December to January 1st.
Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
Don’t be deceived!!!
