PASSOVER CLEANING

Exodus 12:18; “In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.”

With our 11th month quickly approaching, (January 19), we know that our end of the year is close, which means Passover is literally around the corner. Time to start thinking about everything that contains leaven that we must get rid of from our households, vehicles, storage units, and your personal space at work.

Exodus 12:14-15; “And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. 15. Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day shall we put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.”

We must also take into consideration what we purchase from now until Passover and how much of it. Many times we purchase in bulk and end up throwing things away. In order for your “Spring Cleaning” to be just right, Get organized and make a list of all items that contain leaven. Here is a detailed list of places to clean and also a list of other names used for leaven. 1st Corinthians 14:40; “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

Leaven has many names so be sure to TRIPLE check everything very carefully. Remember it’s not just the food we eat, you must also check Seasonings, Vinegar, Beer, Liquor, Wine, Vitamins and Hygiene products. Basically anything with ingredients just to be on the safe side. If the ingredients are not listed on the label, don’t just assume it’s ok to keep in your household. Call the company or Google it.

Give yourself plenty of time so you can do it with a positive attitude, so you don’t have to rush, and so you don’t have to waste any food, product, and/or money.

Ecclesiastes 3:1; “TO EVERY thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”                                                                                                                                     Ecclesiastes 3:6; “A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away.”

  1. You are so right! Passover is right around the corner and it would be smart for many of us to start seeing what we have to get rid of now, so we can use it all up, and wont really have to waste money by throwing away a ton of things. Such great advice all around, and very helpful!

  2. Well put together.
Thank you for this article reminding us that we need to be prepared EARLY for passover !!
