Healthy Ways to Use Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)

  • co-author: Kawadah

It is the beginning of spring and time to rid our homes of many ingredients before Passover begins.  Well Baking Soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is an ingredient that needs to be thrown out of our homes before Passover because it is used as a rising agent. Before just throwing it out, we may want to consider utilizing baking soda or sodium bicarbonate for the health benefits it provides.

Here is a list of healthy baking soda remedies:

Prevents Fungus Growth – Mix 2 parts baking soda with 1 part lemon juice and rub on any itchy area of the hands, feet, or scalp that may be subject to fungal growth.

Removes all Dandruff Immediately – Mix with your favorite shampoo, apply to the scalp in sections and rub gently.

Exfoliates Dead Skin Cells – Mix two parts baking soda with 1 part Aloe Vera gel, then rub on clean dry skin in a circular motion.

Removes Tongue Plaque – Apply a thin coat to your tongue, then use your tooth brush to brush it off your tongue then rinse.

Alkalizes the Internal Body – Put a teaspoon of Baking soda in an 8 ounce glass of water and drink at the beginning signs of an overly acid internal body.

Absorbs Musty Smells Instantly – Rub a small amount under arms or put some in boots or running shoes; anywhere there is a musty odor.

Very surprising that Sodium Bicarbonate can be used to balance PH levels within the body. Now we can add “alkalize sthe body” to our list of other uses Baking Soda has.

Conventional Cleaners

When it comes to cleaning we want something that works well for removing bacteria, but that’s gentle and safe. The fumes of cleaners are dangerously pungent, and when inhaled, is toxic to us all. Conventional cleansers can expose us to multiple chemicals linked to asthma, cancer and other documented health problems. Even the ingredients of personal care products have been found to be harmful to us as well.  If you are looking for a natural, yet affordable replacement, baking soda can do the job that most conventional cleaners and personal care products can do. Below is a list of other baking soda uses.
