The $5 Meal Planner

Most people, if asked, would agree with the fact that eating is a part of our everyday lives.  However, the fluctuation food prices remind me of a daring roller coaster ride.

The dollar amount goes up, or the dollar amount stays the same, while the cent amount rolls back and forth, but others drop dramatically as a result of a recent mercury poisoning news report!

I just can’t keep up, I never liked roller coaster rides anyway.  Such an inflation/deflation food price situation to the average Israelite family only brings added stress to our already set tribulations. (Deuteronomy 28:15-68) I am an Israelite on a very small budget, who would like to share with you how I manage to provide tasty breakfast, dinners, and desserts to my household without constructing a colossal budget.

As a little girl gourmet dinners were far and few.  Many consecutive occasions my siblings and I would ask what’s for dinner and mom would happily reply “Beans, Rice, & Cornbread!”  I didn’t understand back then why she was so gleeful when making that statement.  Now I understand that “Beans, rice, & cornbread” was commonly viewed as one of the only nutritional dinner meals that cost 5 dollars in the late 1980s.

But now days, since stores like the Dollar Tree, 99cent Only, and Buy Low exist, as well as sell food items, it is possible to provide your family with a variety of cuisines; each dinner costing no more than 5 dollars!

Many Israelite families today are poor or live on a tight budget, according to the will or judgment of the Most High God.  Being the “just” father that HE is, the Most High God made our poverty bearable.

“This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles” Psalms 34:6

With just a small sacrifice of meat, for budget reasons, I’ll show you how to enjoy the following dinners, breakfast, and desserts that only cost us 5 dollars.  I probably could whip up a daily lunch budget, but we usually do left-overs for lunch; that’s why it’s not mentioned. The following is a chart with the entree item name, what grocery items to get and which stores to get them from.

Many people I have met acquaintances with are skeptical about purchasing food items from the dollar tree or 99cent Only stores because the food may be poisoned or altered.  In response to that theory, I have heard and read news reports stating that farm foods are also poisoned, the ocean water is poisoned, our drinking water is contaminated, bacteria in excess is allowed in our organic foods, restaurant food is improperly handled, large chain grocers are using genetically modified food, our home water is drugged, and the air is full of deadly chemicals.  As a result of all the reports I have concluded to lean upon God’s word for my final results in order to enjoy good eats from the 99cent Only store; in peace

“They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:18

“For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.  Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.” Romans 14:2,3

Regardless if you only have a tiny budget or can’t keep up with the ever changing food prices, eating on a budget of 5 dollars per meal is an attainable goal for a family of four. You may have to go up to 10 dollars for a family of eight, and a little more for 15! Once you have practiced the above 5 dollar meals, creating others may become an easy task as well as a budget friendly relief.

Don’t hesitate, share your inexpensive meal ideas below!
