A Witness
Proverbs 14:25 KJV
A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
Can I get a witness! Witness!!! Okay, so believe it or not a witness is something that can be a life saver or a condemner. This article will help you understand what being a righteous witness is all about, as well as the necessity of one.
Numbers 35:29-30 KJVS
So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings. [30] Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.
The Most High made it clear, that if anyone kills someone unjustly they are a murderer. Howbeit, they cannot (or rather it is illegal) to condemn someone to death by the mouth of one witness. Something that is a written detail or statute given when making judgments to decide matters.
Deuteronomy 17:6-7 KJVS
At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. [7] The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you.
Here we see what we initially read in Numbers restated in Deuteronomy but with a little more insight or clarification. One witness is not enough to put someone to death. On one hand, it may seem like justice is not served if the person being accused of the crime is not punished but that only applies IF they really committed the crime. Come on now, let’s not forget people lie, slander, and deceive. You see, The Most High already knew that and made laws to help protect people from being wrongfully accused and put to death because now some people believe they are able to accuse anyone they felt of doing something worthy of death (or not) and having them put to death. All because I don’t like you.
If you thought that was all, pay special attention to the second part of the law, in verse seven, that lets you know that if you were a witness it wasn’t a situation where you could release information into the wild and hope someone does something about it, all while you carry on with your day. You had to follow the case to the end. Furthermore, you as the witness (or rather witnesses) would have to be the ones to begin the process of stoning that person to death. Why? So that when you hit them with those stones and you shed blood, you can be the one on the hook for murder in the event you were lying and were able to convince others to go along with your deception. Even if someone lost their life in innocence, you as the liar would still be judged. You may have your laugh in the moment but The Most High will judge you at a later time. Unfortunately, any form of judgment can happen; stabbed to death during a robbery or break in, mauled by a wild bear, hell, slip on some ice and break your neck. You name it! You may escape from man but there is no escape from The Most High.
Hebrews 10:31 KJV
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Knowing the scriptures say this is what makes sin so scary, especially ones where the immediate sin is death. You don’t know WHEN God will hit you or HOW.
Sirach 5:4KJVA
Say not, I have sinned, and what harm hath happened unto me? for the Lord is longsuffering, he will in no wise let thee go.
In the sight of man you may seem to escape judgment. This person may seem like they got off the hook. When the reality is, is that, that only works with man. The Most High God sees all, hears all, knows all. He just doesn’t respond to all. God is responsive not reactive. He bides his time makes a plan and executes.
Deuteronomy 19:15 KJVS
One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
It doesn’t matter what the sin is or how deserving you feel the person who committed the sin is, or how guilty they may look. One witness, one person accusing this person of being like this or moving this way is not enough you need at least two or three witnesses. All depends on the case or matter, if two people seem suspicious I may not be able to make a sound judgment unless we have a third witness. That will be at the discretion of the judge. Maybe a husband and wife could be lying together, or siblings saying we saw this. You as the judge have the right to say we accept or in this case we need a third witness. That is why you have judges. To hear matters and use the law to filter them and judge them case by case.
Sirach 23:19KJVA
Such a man only feareth the eyes of men, and knoweth not that the eyes of the Lord are ten thousand times brighter than the sun, beholding all the ways of men, and considering the most secret parts.
