Genesis Chapter 6: Giants and the Sons of God
The lack of understanding of Genesis chapter six stands at the epicenter of false doctrines. Specifically, as it relates to fallen angels and giants having sex with man. However, none of these things are true. And the right understanding is hidden, yet, all we need are the right precepts to bring it out.
Isaiah 28:10 KJV
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
We will go line upon line and precept upon precept to get a thorough understanding on what is being conveyed. Keep in mind this will only shed light on a quarter of the chapter but it is the most prominent area where many of these doctrines arise.
Genesis 6:1 KJVS
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
The first thing we are learning is context of time and what was going on during that time. Especially from verse one to four. Men and women were being born. However, men who we would say today are “in the world” wicked, Gentiles and heathen were having children. But it highlights daughters for a reason, which we will explain more in verse two.
SONS OF GOD
Genesis 6:2 KJVS
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Stop, don’t just gloss over these details. Who are the sons of God? Because if you don’t understand that first key detail. The rest of the passage won’t make sense.
Romans 8:13-14 KJVS
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. [14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Those that live after the flesh; those that live after the world, would be considered wicked. Those that live after the spirit would be considered the righteous. But they are also considered the sons of God. Keep that in mind. As that is point one. How you are moving determines how God views you. Even going back to Cain and Able. Cain was supposed to be a son of God. But when he started moving wicked that title was revoked. Able was righteous and a son of God but was murdered. So Seth then became the son to continue the legacy that Able would have.
Luke 3:34-38 KJVS
Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor, [35] Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala, [36] Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech, [37] Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan, [38] Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.
Notice the lineage. Adam was considered a son of The Most High made to be righteous in the image of The Most High. So when you are dealing with the lineage above and as mentioned in the early chapters of the book of Genesis the focus is on the lineage of the sons of God. The righteous men who came from the line of Adam.
Genesis 5:21-24 KJVS
And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: [22] And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: [23] And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: [24] And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
How did Enoch walk with God? Because he was in a place where, as mentioned above, he not only kept the law but he excelled at keeping the law that was passed down to him from the previous generations. And even at that time, almost all of his forefathers where all still alive. So he could ask even Adam anything he wanted to know. Remember, our forefathers before the flood were living for hundreds of years. Adam didn’t die until right around the time Noah was born.
1 Kings 8:61 KJVS
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
We are commanded to let our heart, meaning our mind, be completely focused on The Most High. And to walk in his statutes and commandments. Now, if you are walking with The Most High in his laws, statutes and commandments what does that mean? You are walking with God! You are righteous because you are doing the right thing.
Genesis 5:24
And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Enoch was moving righteously. But it is illuminated here because it wasn’t necessarily that others weren’t, it was that he was moving in spiritual excellence. So he was able to be taken up into heaven having mastered life.
2 Kings 2:9-11 KJVS
And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. [10] And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. [11] And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
We would liken this to being abducted. Elijah was taken up by what the world would call a UFO 🛸 but is really a celestial vehicle of the heavenly realm that angelic beings use. But what happens to Elijah is the same thing that happened to Enoch. We just don’t read all the details about it in Genesis chapter five the way we do here. But going precept upon precept we get an understanding.
Genesis 6:2 KJVS
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Now that all that has been said we understand that the sons of God in this context are the sons of Adam. Later in the scriptures it becomes the sons of Israel.
Hebrews 1:5 KJVS
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Now, this is the “nail in the coffin” so to speak. For any who doesn’t believe that the sons of God are the sons of Adam. The Most High never called the angel’s sons or his children. You only find that when references to mankind and not even all of mankind just specifically certain lineages that The Most High deemed overall righteous or just compared to the rest of mankind. That is why this verse is so important. Because at no time in history did he claim the celestial angels as children.
WIVES AND DAUGHTERS OF MEN
Genesis 6:2 KJVS
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
So now we have to deal with the next part of the verse. The sons of God saw the daughters of men and that they were fair; not in a 50/50 sense but rather beautiful. And they began to marry any of which they chose or desired. This is nothing new. This is in line with what we see happening later with the sons of God as well.
Ezra 9:1-2 KJVS
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. [2] For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
This is exactly what is being done in the book of Genesis chapter six. The righteous men and lineage of God is being seduced and enticed and marrying the women of the other nations that were made during the creation of man instead of sticking to the righteous lineage that God wanted them to. They were messing with the heathen and falling into sin.
Proverbs 12:26 KJVS
The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
So now the holy seed is being mixed with the strange people of the land.
Genesis 6:3 KJVS
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
As mankind became more wicked The Most High had to shorten man’s life. Now you are having too much time to do your wickedness. And the more time you have the more wicked you are becoming.
Wisdom 1:14-16 KJVA
14 For he created all things, that they might have their being: and the generations of the world were healthful; and there is no poison of destruction in them, nor the kingdom of death upon the earth: 15 (For righteousness is immortal:) 16 But ungodly men with their works and words called it to them: for when they thought to have it their friend, they consumed to nought, and made a covenant with it, because they are worthy to take part with it.
The Most High wanted mankind to live for as long as possible but due to ungodly men (and women) through their sins our lifespan kept getting reduced. We went from immortal to 800-900 years to 120 years and 100 years at best.
Sirach 18:9-10 KJVA
9 The number of a man’s days at the most are an hundred years. 10 As a drop of water unto the sea, and a gravelstone in comparison of the sand; so are a thousand years to the days of eternity.
No one lived to see a thousand years fulfilled. Man’s life now is up to 100 years. But a thousand years marks the beginning of eternity for us.
Genesis 6:4 KJVS
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
This is another area where people start getting lost. But let’s close out the latter end first and then deal with the opening statement. This context is the same as in verse two. The righteous lineage was intermingling with the wicked lineage. And they were having children. Why does it say, “the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown”? Because our people are still strong, talented and gifted and we stand out. It’s easy for us to gain traction and become famous. Especially for doing wicked stuff. Look at our people today. We are wicked as hell but still the salt of the earth and the world loves whatever we make trendy. The same was happening then. Our kids were becoming famous to the world but wicked in the sight of The Most High.
Nehemiah 13:23-24 KJVS
In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab: [24] And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews' language, but according to the language of each people.
Losing our culture and the heritage of our laws and righteousness. Being absorbed by the other nations.
2 Maccabees 4:9 KJVA
Beside this, he promised to assign an hundred and fifty more, if he might have licence to set him up a place for exercise, and for the training up of youth in the fashions of the heathen, and to write them of Jerusalem by the name of Antiochians.
2 Maccabees 4:10 KJVA
Which when the king had granted, and he had gotten into his hand the rule he forthwith brought his own nation to Greekish fashion.
Remember, this happened often with our people. Time and time again. They wanted to be Greeks, keep Christmas, be Olympic champions. You don’t want to be righteous no more.
2 Maccabees 4:13KJVA
Now such was the height of Greek fashions, and increase of heathenish manners, through the exceeding profaneness of Jason, that ungodly wretch, and no high priest;
All it takes is the right (or rather wrong) person to lead us away from The Most High into wickedness. And increase us in heathenish manners as it says above.
GIANTS IN THE EARTH
Genesis 6:4 KJVS
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Now let us deal with the opening passage. Notice the language used, “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that,” this is stated to contextualize the time and what was going on. That when the sons of God were going into the daughters of men. That was also the time of the giants but even though the giants died, giants also were born in later times. Yet, people still argue no, some giants survived. They didn’t all die. Look, we see giants later on. Goliath was a giant.
Joshua 12:4 KJV
And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,
See! It says remnant! Those that remained after the flood! When no! That is not what it is saying.
Joshua 13:12 KJV
All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.
Point one to think about: Moses smote and cast out the giants so he was a remnant aside from the ones that were killed and died. Part of the ones that fled in that time and shortly prior. Not necessarily ones that lived through the flood.
Genesis 7:21-23 KJVS
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: [22] All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. [23] And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
Point two to think about: If you carefully read the scriptures it will let you know that the giants in the time of Noah before the flood were all killed. He repeats it multiple times to let us know so doctrines such as these don’t come about. There were no survivors outside of those on the ark.
Numbers 13:33 KJVS
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
The sons of Anak are the main lineage of the giants after the flood. They descend from Canaan which descends from Ham.

Looking at the Strong’s definition of Anak we see that it means a Canaanite.
Deuteronomy 2:10-11 KJVS
The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; [11] Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.
There were even other people like the Emims. They were tall and great and also “counted” meaning referred to or numbered with the giants. Just as the Anakims and were even referred to at times by the Anakims but the Moabites had a different name for them. But they were still descendants of Noah. Remember Goliath as well.
1 Samuel 17:23 KJV
And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
Goliath was a giant out of the Philistines. He had a pedigree that came from those after the flood as well. Being a descendant of Noah.
Genesis 10:6,13-14 KJVS
And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. [13] And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, [14] And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.
Goliath was a Philistine who descended from Philistim who descended from Mizraim who descended from Ham who descended from Noah. So we can see clearly as to how the giants came about after the flood what happened to them prior.
