Moses Made the Law?
Often times when you read the Bible you may read references to “the law of Moses” as shown here below:
Joshua 8:32 KJVS
And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
This can lead some people to believe that the law was made and written by Moses and that Moses is the authority concerning the law. However, this is not the case.
Psalm 68:11 KJV
The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
All credit goes to The Most High God. As he is the one that gave the word to both Moses and the various prophets that followed after Moses. Yet, Moses and all of these men played a key role in making sure the word of The Most High was published for all of our people to read it. In addition, to making sure they taught the people the word righteously.
1 Esdras 1:6 KJVA
Offer the passover in order, and make ready the sacrifices for your brethren, and keep the passover according to the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto Moses.
Here in Esdras we have a perfect account written. The commandment was given by The Most High God unto Moses to publish and teach the people.
Exodus 24:3-4 KJVS
And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do. [4] And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
Moses was very careful to annotate the word of The Most High as instructed to do. Moses was a prophet but regarded as more than a prophet to The Most High; a true friend. Yet, just as other prophets, The Most High spoke unto Moses and gave him his words; even face to face. So that he in turn would guide the people appropriately.
Exodus 31:18 KJVS
And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
Now concerning the two tables of stone, those were written by The Most High when he came down in his glorified state upon mount Sinai. And used his finger to carve into a piece of stone the commandments he found to be in his top ten as most important for man to remember. That all of the other commandments can branch off from.
Exodus 20:18-19 KJVS
And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. [19] And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
The people understood The Most High was using Moses and preferred that Moses speak to them due to the authority and power The Most High used when he spoke. Liken it unto you as a child hearing your parents in a loud voice. You just want them to stop yelling or lower their tone. Our people felt the same way. Yet, The Most High knew it was needed to help instill a healthy level of fear in the people to honor him and respect his word.
Deuteronomy 9:10 KJVS
And the Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the Lord spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
