My Body, My Choice
Concerning abortion rights, many in favor of abortion tout the proverb, “my body my choice” which according to several sources (in this case Wikipedia) “my body, my choice is a feminist slogan used in several countries, most often surrounding issues of bodily autonomy and abortion. Feminists usually defend an individual's right of self determination over their bodies for sexual, marriage and reproductive choices as rights. Wikipedia“
So, do we have the lawful (not legal) right of “self determination” over our bodies choices? No, we do not. We are provided with laws concerning things such as dresscode (Numbers 15:38), diet (Leviticus ch.11), behavior etc. All for the purpose of bringing God joy and glory while we walk on this earth.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJVS
[19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Your body is the temple, the dwelling place and habitation of Gods Holy Spirit, that you receive through keeping his commandments (Acts 5:30-31). You do not have the right to move as you will. God is the creator of your body and your spirit. You have no complete control over your body and spirit, everything is in Gods hands. You indirectly have control through the lifestyle you choose to live to influence God’s will over your body and your soul. The Most High God offered up his son as a holy sacrifice for you to be able to execute the things needed to be holy in your body and spirit.
If you desire to be Godly or a child of God you must behave as such. For the children are groomed by their parent(s) and are a reflection of their upbringing. Being a child of God is not a title thrown around to feel good about yourself. It is a responsibility and privilege to manifest righteousness on a day to day basis that others may see the light resonate from you and marvel at the strangeness in how you move (Matthew 5:16). Which isn’t of you but rather of your father in heaven. If you truly take him on as your father.
John 8:44 KJVS
[44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
When you forsake God’s will, you are putting your will in place. As our will is contrary to God and not of him, as the father, but rather as satan our father. Who he himself, is adverse to righteousness. Therefore, you have become an adversary to God and no longer a child of his. And anyone endorsing anything that goes against his will is regarded as the same.
Colossians 2:8 KJVS
[8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
It is not God who seeks to destroy you or trick you. However, it is the devils job to deceive you to go against the will of God. And the devil will always manifest in some man or woman (even if that person is you and your very thoughts or ideologies). Which is why we use the Bible as a filter to give us the things that are pure. Fighting to avoid the traditions of men that are contrary to the traditions which we received of God through the scriptures. Yet many will not believe, let alone repent.
Romans 3:3-4 KJVS
[3] For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? [4] God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Your belief is not necessarily indicative of the truth. Nor does your belief alter the truth. As it can be subject to fact, feeling, or limited knowledge at that time. We know God to be true, as he is omniscient. And we look at the example in which Christ left for us to follow.
Luke 22:42-44 KJVS
[42] Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. [43] And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. [44] And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
It was not the will; the desire of Christ to be tormented and put to death. If there was another way he would have taken it. However, Christ had to make a choice; do my will or the fathers. And even in his fear, he prayed and was strengthened in the spirit to endure the tribulation he had to suffer for our sakes.
John 5:30 KJVS
[30] I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Christ (just like us) could do nothing without the father or his spirit (just like ours) comes from him. And we (just as Christ) must fight to seek out the fathers will in all we do.
Romans 12:1-2 KJVS
[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
You have a choice, that much is true. Nevertheless, this choice is dwarfed by the responsibility and privilege to move according to Gods Will. A sacrifice is killed in all but a moment. But a living sacrifice must die daily, which sacrifice you are (or rather supposed to be) Day in and day out, week to week, month to month, year to year. This is the will of God, that we keep his commandments and walk after him and not after man or our own lusts.
Joshua 24:15 KJVS
[15] And IF it SEEM evil unto you to serve the Lord, CHOOSE you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
