The Nature of Satan

So many of us hear about Satan, but have you ever taken the time to study him? To really get to know him? One may initially think why would I want to get to know Satan? Well, wouldn’t you want to know as much as possible about your enemy, his strengths and weaknesses? So here is an abridged list of Satan and his nature. Many of these could also be articles or lessons within themselves, but I present them here simply for your illumination.

2 Corinthians 2:11 KJVS

[11] Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

  1. Satan is a spirit. Although Christ was being led of a spirit into these locations, the spirit that was leading him was Satan. Matthew 4:1,5  KJVS [1] Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. [5] Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

  2. Satan enters into you. However, it is up to you if he will DWELL in you for season or a lifetime.  Luke 22:3 KJVS[3] Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

  3. Satan comes and goes between earth and the heavenly realm freely. He has a job, when the contract is over he will be fired. But while on the job he has the powers granted unto him to do the work needed. Job 1:7 KJVS[7] And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

  4. Satan follows orders and is not omnipotent. Job 1:12 KJVS [12] And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

  5. Satan has followers and subordinates. Which also makes him a leader. 2 Corinthians 11:15 KJVS [15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

  6. Satan appears good and is disguised as holy or just. This is why sin or wickedness can be hard to spot for people in the world. And why the wicked have a problem owning up to their sins. They hide it and try to appear good. 2 Corinthians 11:14 KJVS[14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

  7. Satan blinds you with sin through your lust or desires. Acts 26:18 KJVS[18] To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

  8. Satan can hinder you from accomplishing goals. 1 Thessalonians 2:18 KJVS [18] Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

  9. Satan is often present as spirits are all around us, even though we do not see them. The physical and spiritual world are parallel similar to the other dimension in “Stranger Things” or the other “underground clone world” in “Us”. What you read in job chapter one and two was happening both physically and spiritually. Job 2:1 KJVS[1] Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord. Romans 7:21 KJVS[21] I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

  10. Satan deceives and can do miracles. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 KJVS [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, [10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

  11. You choose to follow Satan willingly or ignorantly. 1 Timothy 5:15 KJVS[15] For some are already turned aside after Satan.

  12. Other Angels are still stronger than Satan. Revelation 20:1-3 KJVS[1] And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. [2] And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, [3] And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

  13. Satan knows his time is short. Satan is aware of the prophecies that have and have not come to pass. Remember, he does not sleep nor die. Revelation 12:12 KJVS [12] Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. Matthew 8:28-29 KJVS[28] And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. [29] And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

  14. Satan provokes you to want to be adverse through your thoughts and feelings to compel your actions. 1 Chronicles 21:1 KJVS[1] And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

  15. Satan accuses us and pushes God to test us and judge us Job 1:9-11 KJVS [9] Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? [10] Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. [11] But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

  16. Satan can provoke us to sin or fall short but God decides to grant us repentance or not after Satan defiled us. Zechariah 3:1-7 KJVS [1] And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. [2] And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? [3] Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. [4] And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. [5] And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by. [6] And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying, [7] Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

  17. You can have more than one Satanic spirit on you. Mark 5:8-9 KJVS[8] For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. [9] And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

  18. Satan is a chaotic and self destructive spirit. Mark 5:12-13 KJVS [12] And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. [13] And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

  19. Satan loves unclean environments, animals and people. The filthier the better and the more Satanic spirits you will possess. Mark 5:12-13 KJVS [12] And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

  20. Satan can grow and become the dominant power controlling your mind and body and even speaking through you. Which is how you become fully possessed.  Mark 5:8-9 KJVS[8] For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. [9] And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

  21. Satan knows you and knows how strong or weak you are in the spirit. And whether or not he has more power over you or you have more power over him. Acts 19:13,15 KJVS [13] Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. [15] And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

  22. Satan will always try you but you have power to overcome Satan through applying righteousness and this word. Matthew 4:9-11 KJVS [9] And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. [10] Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. [11] Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

  23. Satan knows when to take a break and try again later. James 4:7 KJVS [7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
