In the day of prosperity there is a forgetfulness of affliction: and in the day of affliction there is no more remembrance of prosperity.

We live in a society (or rather a world) that teaches one can marry at a variety of ages. Some say when a girl starts her cycle. Others say ten years old with the parents permission. Some say twelve, sixteen, eighteen. You get the gist. Some even make laws making it legal to do. In essence, depending on where you go in the world you can get a different answer. But has anyone asked (or even care) what does God say?

Parables; we hear them and see them used commonly in the scriptures. Yet, what are they and more importantly what purpose do they serve?

Mark 8:36 KJVS

[36] For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Many may wonder if there is a “need” to put a status update now that I am married or even courting someone. It’s my business and my personal life after all right? Wrong. This is nation building…No one should have to play “Find Waldo” concerning your martial status especially if you are a woman. If you are in a committed relationship with someone need it be marriage, betrothal, or courting it should not be taken lightly nor kept in secret. And if betrothed or married then a “status update” would be something to carry out sooner rather than later.

We all know “Thou shalt not commit adultery”. Yet how many understand why it is such a pivotal sin? And how does one even get to that place? It’s not like you just stumble into adultery. Yet, so many fall into it.

I am sure many of have read this scripture at some point in time in your walk. And for some, they even find it to be a form of inspiration to skip out on the gym. However, very few take the time to consider what message was being conveyed and why.

1 Peter 5:8 KJVS

[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

We see some men with them. The Most High commands we wear them. Yet, how many consider their significance?

Many of us hear many concerns, statements and questions concerning polygyny. The purpose of this article is to shine light on these concerns from a spiritual perspective not an opinionated one.

Polygyny is a growing term, practice, and talking point we are hearing more of and is becoming one of debate amongst conversational circles and social media platforms as well. Yet, not many understand it as well as they should. So let’s gain a thorough understanding of the matter and see if it is a biblically lawful or unlawful practice.

Polygyny, polygamy, etc. We see and hear these terms thrown around in common use and often used interchangeably. Yet, they do not mean the same thing. And in todays day and age it is very important to know the difference.

Some know God as the “Creator”. Some know God as the “Most High”. Some even know God as “YHWH”. However, many of us, although we may have heard, forget “God the Father”. And this is the Most underrated and least understood of the concepts. I can know God has a name. I can know God created the heavens and the earth. Yet, how well do I understand that God is OUR FATHER.

So many of us hear about Satan, but have you ever taken the time to study him? To really get to know him? One may initially think why would I want to get to know Satan? Well, wouldn’t you want to know as much as possible about your enemy, his strengths and weaknesses? So here is an abridged list of Satan and his nature. Many of these could also be articles or lessons within themselves, but I present them here simply for your illumination.

Imagine if you gave a baby a steak instead of milk, what would happen? Naturally the baby would choke and have a greatly increased risk of dying. The same happens to us spiritual if we choose to avoid the “milk” and chase the “meat.” Yes, there are many doctrines and books that are taught and used however, not all doctrines or books are “sound.” Meaning true and scripturally accurate. Some you must chew the meat and spit out the bones. Yet, how do you know what is true and what is false? How do you get the understanding?

Just because you CAN start a camp does not mean you SHOULD. Just because you CAN take the role of a Captain, Deacon, Apostle, or Bishop does not mean YOU should. Yes, we do need people to fulfill those rolls within a congregation or camp. However, that does not mean it should be you personally. Why?

How many times have you been misunderstood by your spouse, a friend, a parent, or maybe even a coworker? Often times feeling like your words were not truly heard. Feeling like even if your words were heard they were not necessarily understood. And the person receiving your words or actions did not pick them up the way you put them down. Yet, as a result you were scolded, chastened or rebuked due to what someone else thought they heard or saw or simply just based on how your words or actions made them feel. Had the person, need it have been you or them, had taken just a little more time to set themselves aside; their feelings and their thoughts and listened with the intent to understand the situation instead of replying or reacting, things could have played out very differently, wouldn’t you agree?
